About Digital Adelaide

Digital Adelaide is the largest marketing conference in South Australia.

Attracting over 240 attendees each year, the conference focuses on showcasing real marketers sharing their real experiences.

Unlike conferences heavy on theory or salesy content, Digital Adelaide dives deep into practical knowledge, offering actionable strategies gleaned from actual campaigns and challenges faced in the trenches.

This focus on authenticity fosters a sense of community and trust, allowing attendees to not only learn from success stories but also identify with relatable struggles and triumphs.

By showcasing the “why” alongside the “what” and “how,” Digital Adelaide empowers attendees to translate learnings into their own work, making the conference a valuable springboard for growth in the ever-evolving world of digital marketing.

Our history

Originally inspired by Mashable’s Social Media Day, Digital Adelaide started out at Social Media Day Adelaide. The intent for the first ever “event” held in 2015 was to ensure the latest social media knowledge accessible to everyone — marketers, communicators and business owners, no matter what stage their career was at.

As 2021 rolled around, we returned to a face-to-face event format at Allan Scott Auditorium at the University of South Australia for Social Media Day X Digital Adelaide, which was embraced by our attendees.

In 2022 we launched a new brand for the event, shortening the official name to Digital Adelaide. The bright and bold brand colours stand out, and pay subtle homage to social media platform colours, a nod to the origins of the event. We also moved the event to the National Wine Centre, making it bigger and better than before.

This year, the event is shaping up to be the best one yet… 2 streams across 2 days at the Adelaide Oval!

In 2015, the event was nothing more than a handful of Google Hangout sessions, one face-to-face seminar in a university tutorial room and then after work drinks at Hains and Co.

For 2016, Social Media Day Adelaide became a face to face event at Cafe Komodo in Prospect.

In 2017, the University of South Australia came on board as a venue sponsor. Social Media Day Adelaide was run in the Hawke Centre, giving attendees a comfortable venue.

Over the years we had numerous requests to include more content around digital marketing – and so Digital Adelaide was born. In 2019, the first ever Digital Adelaide event was held, with a broader focus on digital marketing channels. This included case studies around digital advertising, SEO and email marketing.

2020 brought disruption, with the COVID-19 pandemic in full swing. We decided to run a completely virtual event over two days, essentially with one day focused on Social Media Day Adelaide content and the other on Digital Adelaide content. We ran a very successful livestream event, with speakers joining remotely.

Tea or coffee? Coffee… all day, every day.

Up late or early riser? Early riser thanks to my 4 year old. But also up late due to my desire to catch up on bad tv.
